Responsible to: Head of People and Talent

Location: Company Wide. Regular National Travel will be required at the Centres and Offices

Based: Cardiff Head Office – option to be based in Birmingham or London.

Grade: Level 5 - Salary Band £45,000.00 - £59,000.00

This is a fixed term post for 6 months with a potential to go permeant. Options available for PAYE or Contract work.

The purpose of the position

The Skills Centre is a leading and innovative Construction based training provider with a national UK presence, committed to delivering exceptional training and upskilling to our clients. The Skills Centre is focused on Building Opportunities. As we continue to expand and grow, we recognize the significance of our people and talent in driving our success.

As the In-house Recruitment Specialist, you will be an integral part of our People and Talent and Operational team, focusing on talent acquisition and mobility. The role will focus on identifying and attracting candidates who are passionate about the construction industry and supporting learners. This will cover a range of roles and responsibilities within the organsiation and will be in line with the KCSIE guidance.

Principle duties and responsibilities

Talent Sourcing and Acquisition

  • Ability to develop and deliver effective recruitment strategies for multiple roles nationally.
  • Develop and drive the recruitment strategy ensuring that the most effective and innovative approaches are used.
  • Collaborate with the People and Talent and hiring managers to understand their recruitment needs.
  • Work with hiring managers and the People and Talent Manager to ensure that roles have been budgeted and approved.
  • Develop an Internal CRM/ATS of candidates and skills to support with current and future needs
  • Source, screen, and assess candidates using various channels, such as job boards, social media, referrals, and internal databases.
  • Conduct interviews and coordinate assessment activities to evaluate candidates' suitability for the organization.
  • Support the integration of new technology and systems into the Recruitment process.
  • Support the People and Talent Team with recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Support at networking or client meetings.

Candidate Engagement and Experience

  • Provide a positive and professional candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.
  • Ensure timely communication and feedback to candidates, keeping them informed about the status of their applications.
  • Develop and maintain a tracking system to ensure performance and report on outcomes.
  • Internal Mobility and Talent Development
  • Support internal talent mobility initiatives, identifying opportunities for career growth and advancement within the organization.
    Support the People and Talent Manager with the In-house training and development specifically our In-house Teacher Training programme.

Employer Branding and Networking

  • Contribute to building and promoting the employer brand of The Skills Centre
  • Participate in industry events and networking activities to attract top talent and expand our talent pool.
  • Recruitment Process Improvement
  • Continuously analyze and improve the recruitment process, incorporating best practices and innovative approaches.
  • Utilize HR analytics to measure recruitment effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.
  • Any other duties commensurate within the role
     

Key experience, knowledge, and skills

  • Strong experience within an inhouse recruitment function
  • Ability to use a variety of recruitment methods and manage the full recruitment process.
  • Experience of large volume telephone, online and face to face recruitment.
  • In-depth knowledge of recruitment strategies and sourcing techniques.
  • Experience of building and maintaining a CRM/ATS system
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with candidates and hiring managers.
  • A passion for identifying and developing talent, and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple recruitment processes simultaneously.

Desirable

  • Knowledge and experience in the FE sector

Qualifications

  • Level 3 or above training in a Recruitment, Human Resources, or a relevant field (Desirable)
