The CSCS Green Card is the passport to the industry. Most large construction firms require at least a CSCS Green Card to gain access to site. Our free pre-employment programmes across the UK can help learners gain the knowledge and skills to achieve this card.

Why is a CSCS Green Card important?

The CSCS Green Card is vital if you want to work in construction.

It shows that a worker has the health and safety knowledge and understanding needed to work safely on site. Lots of construction bosses look for this card when hiring because it shows you're ready for the job.

Getting the CSCS Green Card is not just about the first job. It helps you move up in your career. When you have more experience, you can go for higher-level cards. Many bosses need this card for different jobs, so having it opens up more opportunities for you.

The CSCS Green Card isn't just for you; it's a way to keep everyone safe on construction sites. It follows the rules everyone in the industry agrees on. Clients and developers also like it because it shows you're following the right standards.

So, having the CSCS Green Card is not just a piece of paper. It's your way of saying, "I care about safety, I'm good at my job, and I'm ready for more." It's a small card with big benefits for your construction career!

How do I get my green card?

In order to apply for your CSCS Green Card you must first complete both the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety and the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test.

These can be booked individually with providers across the UK, or, can be completed free of charge, as part of our fully funded pre-employment provision. The Pre-employment programmes are currently available in London, Kent and The West Midlands. Learn more here.

While the Pre-employment programme is free, there may be costs associated with booking individually, and these will vary from supplier to supplier. You can learn more via the CSCS Website.

Either way, secure your CSCS Green Card and show you're ready for a construction job!

What next?

Once you have your CSCS Green Card and are working on-site, you may want to start thinking about completing an NVQ Level 2 in your chosen trade. This will enable you to apply for your CSCS Blue Card.
