Throughout March, The Skills Centre proudly delivered its Women in Construction programmes across all of our centres, creating dedicated, supportive spaces for women to explore the wide range of opportunities available within the construction industry. Designed to break down barriers and build confidence, these women‑only programmes gave learners the chance to gain practical insight into construction careers—many for the first time.
By offering a safe and inclusive learning environment, participants felt comfortable asking questions, learning new skills and exploring roles they may not previously have considered. As one learner reflected, the programme was “thorough and informative… really enjoyed how it was presented and supportive to women in the building trade.”
Discovering New Pathways into Construction
Specialist construction training provider The Skills Centre is inviting women currently working in on-site construction roles to take the next step in their careers through a fully funded Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) programme.
Designed specifically to support women already working in the construction industry, the programme provides the qualifications, knowledge and confidence needed to progress into site supervisory positions.
As the construction sector continues to seek greater diversity within its workforce, The Skills Centre is committed to helping more women access leadership opportunities and build long-term careers in the industry.
Participants on the programme will earn a CITB-accredited SSSTS qualification, giving them essential health and safety knowledge and the leadership skills to supervise construction sites effectively. In addition, learners will receive a FREE Level 2 NVQ in Non-Hazardous Waste.
The women's only course takes place at The Skills Centre Edgeware, London on November 24th, 25th and 26th. Those applying need to be aged 19 or over, currently working in an on-site construction role, be self-employed and have the right to work and study in the UK.
