This course is designed for workers who already have a health and safety management role within the construction industry. The L5 in occupational health and safety practice is ideal for expanding knowledge and developing managerial skills.

Who is the course for?

The Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice is designed for candidates who have a role wihtin the organisation for managing health and safety policy and practice.

The candidate report directly to or be part of the senior management team. This qualification is suitable for those in roles such as Health and Safety Manager, Health and Safety Advisor or equivalent. They should recommend and implement changes relevant to their role and be aware of cost implications and budgetary control.

How is it assessed?

All evidence and assessments will be managed by the e-portfolio system - Learning Assistant.

Candidates will be assessed through a number of assessment methods. Evidence will be collated by both the assessor and the candidate through observations, professional discussions, witness testimonies and supporting documentary evidence.

Competence is proved by the assessor observing the candidate demonstrating that they carry out their normal work activities competently to the industry standard whilst complying with current legislation.

The assessor will work with the candidate to confirm that they have met the requirements of the units of the qualification.

The candidate must be assessed in a work environment - workplace evidence of skills can not be simulated.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must be aged 19 or over and be working in a health and safety role, they will also need to demonstrate they can produce evidence across the standard by completing our initial assessment prior to being accepted on to the programme.
