Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting Occupations (Construction) – Painter

Who is the course for?

This course is ideal for experienced painter and decorators who are working in the construction industry.

How is it assessed?

All evidence and assessments will be managed via the e-portfolio system, Learning Assistant.

Candidates will be assessed through several assessment methods. Evidence will be collated by both the assessor and the candidate through observations, professional discussions, witness testimonies and supporting product evidence such as Accredited prior learning and on-site Health and safety documents.

Competence is proved by the assessor when inducting the learner onto the course during the Induction / Enrolment process and through on-site observation of the learner carrying out work relevant to a painter and decorator whilst complying to all health and safety legislations.

The Assessor will work with the candidate to confirm they have met all necessary requirements that will mark against all learning criteria for each unit.

A solid rapport will be built between the Assessor and the Candidate so that the process runs smoothly and achievement can be a success.

Evidence must be gathered by the learner being assessed in a work environment. All evidence used must be valid to specific learner.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must already be working in the construction industry as a Painter and Decorator and have sufficient knowledge when working with Water based and Solvent based paints and materials. The candidate will also have sufficient knowledge when preparing work areas and understand completion of works that meet the level of job specification. Candidates must be 19 or above to apply for this course.

Industry Recognition and Benefits

The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Industrial painting and decorative finishes will enable the candidate to apply for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) blue skilled card. This will open up much more opportunities for work on more projects and will demonstrate a level of trust to employers in the future that you have the capabilities of working at a high level within your trade. Progression Routes

Achievement of this qualification provides opportunities to progress to further qualifications and training such as Supervisory and Management qualifications.

It will also provide more understanding of Control of Substances Hazardous to health (COSHH).

Achieving Level 2 Qualification in Industrial Painting and decorative finishes, will also show future customers from both the commercial and domestic sector that you have a full qualification as a Painter and Decorator opening a path to better work opportunities in the future.
