This course is ideal for those looking to build on their Industrial painting and Decorative skills. Created for those already working as a Painter and Decorator in the construction industry, this qualification provides a gateway to a number of exciting opportunities for progression, including supervisory and management qualifications.

Who is the course for?

This course is ideal for experienced painter and decorators who are working in the construction industry.

How is it assessed?

All evidence and assessments will be managed via the e-portfolio system, Learning Assistant.

Candidates will be assessed through several assessment methods. Evidence will be collated by both the assessor and the candidate through observations, professional discussions, witness testimonies and supporting product evidence such as Accredited prior learning and on-site Health and safety documents.

Competence is proved by the assessor when inducting the learner onto the course during the Induction / Enrolment process and through on-site observation of the learner carrying out work relevant to a painter and decorator whilst complying to all health and safety legislations.

The Assessor will work with the candidate to confirm they have met all necessary requirements that will mark against all learning criteria for each unit.

A solid rapport will be built between the Assessor and the Candidate so that the process runs smoothly and achievement can be a success.

Evidence must be gathered by the learner being assessed in a work environment. All evidence used must be valid to specific learner.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must already be working in the construction industry as a Painter and Decorator and have sufficient knowledge when working with Water based and Solvent based paints and materials. The candidate will also have sufficient knowledge when preparing work areas and understand completion of works that meet the level of job specification. Candidates must be 19 or above to apply for this course.

Candidates must be able to communicate in English, though no minimum reading/writing level is required (NOCN Use of Language in Assessment Policy)

The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Industrial painting and decorative finishes will enable the candidate to apply for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) blue skilled card.
