The Skills Centre and United by Birmingham is looking to recruit 240 candidates from across the West Midlands to work as security personnel for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham with an IMMEDIATE start.
The games take place from 28th July – 8th August and all you need to do is sign up for our FREE two-week SIA training programme today.
It costs absolutely nothing and there are guaranteed job opportunities in security with United by Birmingham at the Commonwealth Games when training is completed - as well as great prospects for future job opportunities.
What qualifications will I get?
You will achieve:
- Level 1 Award in Health and Safety Awareness
- Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry
- SIA License
- Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work
What will I learn on the course?
With our accredited training courses, you’ll learn about legislation relevant to the role, search procedures, incident and report management, crowd control, effective communication, conflict management, and physical intervention.
Our courses include everything you need to work in the private security industry; the Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors, the Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work, the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety Awareness and the SIA License.
You will also receive skills to support you with the application process including interview advice, CV writing, communication and personal development techniques to help you gain employment with your new qualifications.
The qualification is assessed with three multiple-choice examinations, a theoretical assessment and a practical assessment, which you will need to pass before getting your fully funded SIA License.

Screening & Enrolment: 08:30am – 17:00pm
Training: 08:30am – 16:00pm.

What sort of jobs might be on offer?
There are up to 240 SIA candidates required with an immediate start, working for Total Security Services (TSS), OCS, and G4S.
The different security roles/positions available include General Security/Door Supervisor.
Salaries available include vacancies before the games commence @ £11.20 per hour and during the Games @ £12.20 per hour, with immediate job starts available and excellent opportunities for jobs ongoing after the Games have ended.
The majority of candidates for these roles will be placed via The Skills Centre’s SIA training programme before going on for assessment/interview by a prospective employer.
How do I know if I’m eligible to apply for the course?
You need to be a resident of Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Solihull, Walsall, and Wolverhampton, 19+ years of age, and currently earning less than £18,135 per year.
