Introduction to Insulation and Dry Lining
OUR NEW, FREE, SPECIALIST INSULATION AND DRY LINING TRAINING PROGRAMMES ARE A GREAT FIRST STEP INTO THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY.
You’ll start to develop the specialist skills and knowledge needed for a traineeship or apprenticeship in dry lining, insulation and interior systems, as well as gaining work experience with one of our local employers.
What does Internal and External Insulation and Dry Lining mean?
Internal Wall Insulation
Adding insulation boards or insulated stud walls to the inside of external walls to improve energy efficiency.
External Wall Insulation
Applying insulation boards to the outside of a building and covering them with a protective render or cladding. This is commonly used in retrofitting older buildings.
Dry Lining
Fixing plasterboard to walls or ceilings to create a smooth finish for decorating. This can be applied with adhesive (dot and dab) or fixed onto a timber/metal frame.
Industry and employer engagement
This programme has been developed with support from FIS - an industry body which was created to draw the finishes and interiors supply chain together to improve safety and quality, minimise risk, enhance productivity and help embrace innovation.
Their membership comprises fit-out and specialist contractors, manufacturers and suppliers.
The Skills Centre is working directly with a number of employers, including Measom Dry Lining, Platt and Riley and Stanmore to fill vacancies for apprenticeships across London and Essex.
